Four sexy dragon shifters. One fiery dragoness.

I’m done with the dragon shifter lifestyle. No more Dragon Gatherings. No more fancy dinners. And most certainly no more hanky-panky with dragons at the shifter nightclub.

So what if I have wings and sometimes spew fire? It doesn’t mean I can’t find a nice human guy to live happily ever after with.

Now the fertility stone has been stolen, and I’ve been enlisted to help with the investigation. Unfortunately, that means I’m stuck at a billionaire’s villa with four smoking hot dragon shifters.

Whatever happens, I need to keep them from stealing my heart as well.

THIS IS A REVERSE HAREM DRAGON SHIFTER ROMANCE.

description
This paranormal reverse harem was a really good series starter. It was also a great first read for me by Misty Malloy. I happen to be a big fan of shifter books and this one was a prime example of the sub-genre done well.

Lyssa was a dragon shifter who was done with the lifestyle until a theft, a mystery, and 4 sexy dragons throw her right back into the thick of things. Each of these men is very different but I really liked the diversity they brought to the relationship. I will admit I had my favorites though. I hope, however, that fellow shifter and/or PNR fans will give this story a try and experience everything for themselves. There were some good twists and turns in the storyline. There were some unexpected elements which I appreciated. Plus there were some secondary characters that I wouldn't mind seeing more of in future.

While this book ended without every plot point being resolved, it had a happy for now feel to it for me. There definitely needs to be another book to tie up the loose ends, but it wasn't the kind of cliffhanger that has me wanting to throw my kindle. I will be looking forward to the next book.

This book needs the benefit of a good editor

Spoilers, don't read further if you don't want details. So, I have so many issues with this story. The first being that the FMC decides she's found true love with 4 different Dragon shifters after knowing them for four, at the top, five days and a couple of lays. Of course the men are equally in love and willing to relocate in that time (the 5 of them live and have careers all across the globe from one another). Then you have the Numerous instances of the story almost contradicting itself. One example: Alyssa makes a point of thinking about the fact that she's on birth control and thereby safe. Yet at the same time we know that dragons can only be fertile after coming in contact with a magic stone, and that lasts for one year. But oops the stone has lost its mojo. Why are we even talking about birth control then? I don't even have the energy to list all of just the main plot failures like I'd planned to. Girl has major mommy issues, has no use for dragons. Got stuck in town after the big party, oops somehow despite her constant oh no, that's not for me, the chick lands on 4 dicks in the same number of days. Runs away. Minutes later runs back. The guys that hate each other's guts enough to fight during a nice dinner (one flipped his hosts table -classy. Soup and drinks on everyone) decide in a quick meeting, oh looks like we all love her, let's just get along.
Maybe someday shell have grown into her writing, but for now, I'd recommend a pass.

Squick-factor

Surely I cannot be the only person who finds it gross when ppl go to specifically to hook up and yet that’s the premise of this book. Lyssa reluctantly goes to a club with her “friend” Shay who is a creepy stalker chasing after some guys she met while on vacation. Shay is the kind of friend who uses Lyssa to get into the club, but doesn’t remember anything about Lyssa, and is more than happy to push Lyssa off on any and every random guy who crosses their path. The author offers the poetic observation that Shay wants to have sex with a billionaire, emphasizes that she wants it “bad”, then chases it with Lyssa saying that Shay owes her - “big time”. Blech.

Meanwhile, leaving no trope untroped Lyssa is a romance novel writer, just like the author! She needs to return home to Albuquerque to start writing her next book. Except every guy who crosses Lyssa’s path wants her /bad/ and is also, coincidentally, a billionaire-businessman/surfer/playboy/warrior and head of their clan. Oh, well, she’ll just have to have sex with them all! No need to get to know one another or even speak. One of the men doesn’t even know her name until their second tryst. And I’m sorry, but the thing where she has a man feeling her up under the table in front of her friend and other guests is repulsive.

I really enjoyed this story. I love paranormal romances, and then you add the reverse harem side to it, and you have a winner in this story. Misty brings together four dragons and a female that is also a dragon but doesn't embrace it.

Lyssa is asked to come to a gathering for the fertility stone that all the dragon males need to make babies. However, she doesn't want anything to do with the mating. When the stone is found stolen, Lyssa is asked to stay and help out. However, will the need to mate overwhelm her?

I loved the four different dragons. The guys each have their different personalities and needs. They are all want something different from Lyssa but in the end, wants to love her for herself. Scorched is a great story, and I can't wait for the next one!

Ooo La La

Ooo la la! That was so hot! The four elements representing the four hot dragons enamored with Lyssa. But she suppresses her dragoness and her cravings for each sexy, alpha Dragon until she can no longer deny her cravings for all of them. Each has his own attributes which makes her Dragon blood sing. The scene in the dining room, well, let's just say it was too hot for words! I'm so glad I followed the recommended of one of my favorite authors, and read this book. I'm always eager to find a 'new to me' author, and I'm sure Ms. Mallory will not disappoint.

A bit lackluster…

I finished this book easily and I didn’t regret reading it. That’s the most positive thing I can say about it. The story is very shallow and one dimensional. FMC is a dragoness who denies everything dragon. She won’t shift, she won’t talk to her dragon or let her dragon talk to her. She won’t cavort with other dragons. She basically wants to be human. She has a pretty weak reason for all of this and it’s unconvincing.

While at an annual gathering the fertility stone is stolen and Lyssa stays to support her sister who is the guardian of the stone. While there she meets some dragons who turn her all hot and bothered. Lyssa is wishy washy about everything. One minute she wants to jump their bones and the next minute she has no interest in them at all. Finally they are all declaring their love….um, what?

FMC literally has sex with them all once or twice and suddenly they are in love? They don’t even know or like each other. They didn’t spend any meaningful time together. Nothing.

On top of that the entire plot is weak. There is no bad guy. There is no subterfuge or mystery or drama. There is nothing but an extremely weak reason for everyone to stay at this rich guys house. This story probably sounded fun in the authors head, but the execution was terrible. The story wasn’t good.

This is the first of this authors I’ve read, and I’m not a huge fan off this book.
The female character makes me want to beat her and one of the male characters makes my skin crawl, yes Drake you!
I felt there was so much potential in this story, with the drama and mystery of the missing stone and the brief outline of the dragon lore...
It just fell short for me, I will read the second and see if there’s hope for me and this series.

AMAZING! An entrancing tale with a slow burn to BLISS with intrigue, suspense, and STEAM galore!
I have read only a few reverse harem romances that made any sense, but the story Misty Mallory weaves in her latest release “SCORCHED” is absolutely phenomenal! Her characters were intricately well-developed, and so richly described that I could hear their voices as I read along. And Mallory’s descriptive prose included settings, smell, sights that made it easy to see the scenery change from page to page. Then just for giggles, author Mallory adds the intrigue of a missing artifact, a love triangle or quadrangle, and on the top of all this turmoil places the disagreement concerning whether a legend/myth is fantasy or reality. It is easy to say that readers need to pay attention while consuming “SCORCHED!” And Consume readers will! There is so much going on in this incredibly complex plot. Along with the fast pace of the story, Mallory uses her master level ability to give just enough information to make her readers feel they are solving the problem/ issues and drama, but not enough for the suspense-filled tension to decrease one iota. I loved “SCORCHED” and hope to be reading many more novels by Misty Mallory in the future. I voluntarily read a copy of “SCORCHED” and this is my honest voluntary review. If you are looking for something far from the holiday crazies and real life in general, then “SCORCHED” by Misty Mallory is the book for you! It is STEAMY yet has a slow burn, sensuous buildup with lots of real romance. “SCORCHED” delivers a paranormal romance which will entertain and enrich that end of the day “Me Time” we all need. So, get your copy of this 5-STAR, strongly recommended reverse harem romance TODAY! And even better news, "SCORCHED" is first of a series of novels; there will be more! Happy pages! 😉

Scorched is the first installment of The Orestaia series by Misty Malloy.

Lyssa has dated dragon shifters here and there and for some reason, her luck in the dating field hasn’t improved. With so many bad turnouts, she’d decided to move past the dragons and focus her attention on human males. But when the mating artifact is considered missing, Lyssa is forced to stay at a mansion filled with four dragons who light a fire in her. And each one of them wants to prove Lyssa that they are her’s.

Will Lyssa be able to open her heart up to not one, but four dragon males? And will the mating artifact be found safe and sound or will everything turn into chaos when word gets out?

I enjoyed Lyssa dating world being similar to reality (human) world without having any luck. But when she’s forced to stay in a mansion while her sister is on a mission to find the mating artifact she’s perked the interest of four dragon males all from different clans. She certainly gets acquainted with all four of them individually and even together, but what I really liked was the different introductions the author does for each dragon. It made it easier for me to keep track of who was who. Even though the story was slightly on the side of fast pace reading, I wish there were more moments where we could to see a build of the individual personality of the four dragons and seeing them court Lyssa instead of jumping right into sex. For me, the story seemed to lean towards a one-night stand spread out in a week time. However, I do know that this is only part one of the stories. Even with how everything turned out at the end, I am curious to learn what happens next for Lyssa and her new found love.

Title: Scorched
Series: The Orestaia series #1
Author: Misty Molloy
Genre: Reverse harem Shifter Romance
Rating: 5 scales and tales
Reviewed by Mandy for Janise’s’ Jivin’ Book Blog

All Lyssa wants to do is totally escape her heritage of Dragon life, she wants nothing to do with her Dragon, the Dragon Gathering, or to mate with a Dragon, but when she is drug to the Dragon Gathering by her cousin Shay, she soon learns that she cannot escape her life and what it means to be a Dragon. Lyssa meets more than one Alpha Male Dragon who calls to her inner Dragon, but by the goddess she just can’t choose. When the Orestaia stone that helps with the mating and continuation of all dragons goes missing, Lyssa is forced to help her sister when all she wants to do is flee and go back home. But her Dragon had other plans.

Ethan leader of the Skywing clan and owner of Fang and Flame Club, Trey Anderson Seeker Dragon, Jackson of Bali, and Drake of Italy, all want to claim just one woman who has them by the Scales but not sure if she will just accept any of them but knowing they must all fight to keep her not sure how or if she will just accept just one or all of them they are set to task in winning her over. But with the Orestaia missing they are also on a mission to help find the stone to help not only themselves but all of Dragon Kind. Is it possible to do both without losing everything in the process?

Misty Malloy has written another favorite of mine, I am slowly becoming a huge fan of her writing style and how she sucks you in to her books. There was a small part of the book I struggled with because it seemed it repeated its self but it quickly picked back up speed, I can’t wait for book two in this series.

Scorched is the first installment of The Orestaia series by Misty Malloy. I can’t wait for the next installment! This story has it all and leaves us with a mystery that needs to be solved and wondering how the romance will proceed.
Lyssa hasn’t had the best romantic success with humans and she doesn’t trust male dragon shifters. There are five Dragon clans and Lyssa attends the Gathering, only to support her sister, who is the clan leader for the Blackfire Dragon clan - the Guardians of the stone.. Lyssa has had it with male dragons and the gatherings. When, the Gathering is over, she is hurrying to return home, only to find that the fertility stone is stolen, her sister asks her to stay and suddenly, she is in a mansion with four male dragon shifters who are attracted to her and all of them set her pulse racing! Each of these Sexy, Gorgeous, Dominant men from different clan’s have their own personality, and charms. They haven’t thought about sharing a woman but this is not unknown for their Dragon culture and they agree if, this is a way to claim her, they will work it out. Lyssa gets pulled deeper into the dragon world and she begins to embarrass her inner dragoness. Her dragon calls out for her to “mate”! But, which one? Or can it be all of them ? Will there be a happily ever after if, the fertility stone is not found?
Misty Malloy writes a wonderful story and her characters have depth. The story is filled with adventure, danger, suspense, mystery, exciting sex scenes, fast paced and romance. Thank you!!

Different?  On a dragon’s scale of one to ten this is a twenty.  Scorched is a mythical story set in modern times about five different clan’s dragons and one woman who refuses to embrace her inner dragon.  This story is as hot as dragon’s breath and just as volatile.   With an underling mystery that needs to be solved Scorched leaves off on a cliffhanger with us dangling by tooth and claw for the sequel Singed that is due in early 2019.  Scorched by Misty Malloy is a breathy hot 5-stars.

Lyssa loves her sister who is the leader of their dragon clan and the keeper of the fertility stone.  When the stone goes missing Lyssa stays in Prague to help Amelie, even though she hates all things dragon related.  As some of the hottest dragons are called in to secretly help find the stone Lyssa can’t help but get pulled deeper and deeper into the dragon world and embrace her inner dragoness. With four gorgeous men each from different clans wanting to be with Lyssa, her dragon roars to life screaming “mate” but at which one?  Dragons can have more then one mate, does Lyssa have to choose or can she have all four of these alpha males and live happily ever after?  Can there be a happily ever after if they can’t find the stone?

Scorched started off a little confusing to me but it didn’t take long for me to catch on and start really enjoying the book. You get all5 of the main character’s points of view and get to be in each of their heads. The author did a good job of keeping the flow with that many povs.

Each dragon was different. All the men had their own personalities and the author was able to let those personalities shine through in her writing. I loved how they all fulfilled a different part of Lyssa. She got everything she needed; it just came in the form of 4 hot dragons.

Lyssa hasn’t really been in touch with her dragoness in a long time. She is trying to live a human life but she isn’t human. That all becomes clear while she is helping her sister at the Gala. When a mystery happens Lyssa is forced to stay longer than she planned. She has to figure out a way to help her sister.

This book not only had hot dragons but suspense, mystery and it all continues into the next book. There is a slight cliffhanger but nothing that will have you screaming at the book when it ends.

So much potential, but it fell short.

I wanted to give this a higher rating as I immensely enjoyed the plot, especially the intrigue of the missing stone. I loved the diversity in the male (harem) but was extremely disappointed with the ending. This was supposed to be a stand a lone book, but it doesn't feel like one. Things were progressing nicely - the truth about the stone was revealed - and then BAMB the book is suddenly ending. Yes, she ends up with the four guys in the end but there still seemed like a lot of things that needed resolved/explained...

As is, I would probably wouldn't recommend this to others merely because the ending. However, I would have definitely given this 5 stars (and recommend) if it had been the beginning (book one) of a series - hopefully the author will consider continuing the story with a second book.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book and can’t wait for the next installment. The only downside to this book is they didn’t shift into their dragon forms until almost the end of the book. Lyssa has had it with male dragons and the gatherings. She only goes to them to support her sister, the clan leader. Then when the fertility stone is stolen she suddenly finds herself in a house with four male dragons that set her pulse racing. Each of the men has their own personality and charms that set Lyssa on fire. In dragon culture it is not taboo to have more than one mate so each man is vying for the mate position. Will there be more than one? Will Lyssa finally get over her aversion to all things dragon?

Lyssa has tried to stay away from male dragons and stick to dating humans but when they think the fertility stone has gone missing she is suddenly sharing a house with 4 male dragons who are all hot for her and she's not immune to their charms and their very different personalities.
I enjoyed this book, would however have liked to read more of them as dragons, book was at about 70% in before any of the characters shifted into dragon form. For a book on dragons i think this should've happened a lot earlier and have more of a split between human and dragon form as opposed to the majority of the book being humans.

This was a great book to read! When I was finally able to read it (I have 2 kiddos, and finding time can be hard) I blew through it very quickly!

The main reason I'm giving it 4 stars instead of 5 is because I felt the ending was a bit rushed (just my opinion, but you should read and decide for yourself lol). Other then that I highly recommend, because the book still kept me engaged with great characters, an awesome storyline, and with an open ending for more books to come.

Not sure if there will be different main characters or the same ones, but I still plan on reading whatever book comes next!

Look at this gorgeous cover !!
Scorched by Misty Malloy is the first book in her Orestia series. Meet Lyssa Adams, she's a 28 year old writer of romance novels, pure dragon and has sworn off all male dragons. She dates only humans from here on out. When she is forced to staywith four dragonshifters all bets are off.
Meet Ethan, Drake, Jackson and Trey they powerful, gorgeous, irresistible dragons whom have her sights set on Lyssa.

Scorched is ascorching hot, nsfw, slow burn with unexpected twists and turns that kept me at the edge of my seat. I liked the storyline and can't wait for Lyssa and her dragons story to continue in Singed.

A little mystery with your romance makes this an entertaining must read. I like how each man/dragon brings something special to the relationship with Lyssa. Each has his own allure. How does one woman that wants one human mate (no dragons) end up with 4 dragons??? The dragons know their job and are darn good at it. Love guides the way for all 5. At times I wanted to throat punch Lyssa for her stubborn hard headed know it all crap. She was a douche with the men way too often imo. I look forward to the next book to see how things get resolved.

Ever read a book where you want to alternately punch or shake or kiss one or more of the characters? That's how I felt with this book, the characters are so well written I felt like I could interact with them more than I was already doing. I loved watching them grow and change through the book. I love it when you get to hear from more than one point of view (that's where the wanting to shake someone comes in!). I now need to know what happens on the next stage of their journey...it's sure to be a bit rocky!

OMG! I've volunteered to review this book for United Indie Book Blog. This is my first time reading one of Misty Malloy books. This is the first book in The Orestaia Series. Lyssa is a dragon who hasn't shifted or really listened to her dragon in 10 years. This storyline is filled with tension, suspense, drama, emotional turmoil and the seeds of fated mates romance. I HIGHLY recommend this book, it kept me engaged with great characters. I can't wait to read more from Misty Malloy. I will definitely going back and reading more from her. Keep up the awesome work!

Solid 3.5 rating.

Scorched is the first book in a new paranormal series by Misty Malloy. Definitely a series to keep your eye on and I would recommend the read which keeps you interested and wanting to find out more!
The writing is descriptive and you get a good feel for the world and the setting of the story.
The plot of the story itself felt a bit rushed to me, but I’m looking forward to seeing where the author takes the characters and hope to see more story/character development in the continuation of the series!

Only at a gathering of dragons to help her sister , Amelie , who is guardian of the Orestaia , the fertility stone any dragon who wants to breed needs to touch to have any chance of young , Lyssa doesn't feel like or really want to be a dragon , all she wants is to find a nice human male , settle down & live quietly . All that gets thrown out the window when the Orestaia gets stolen & Lyssa tries to help her sister find it but also manages to help herself as well . A fun sexy story with a little twist that was totally unexpected .

Kindle Unlimited.

Sometimes, I wish authors would embrace lust, instead of insisting on love. This is erotica with an urban fantasy twist.

The main character is a bit meh for me...she stays busy denying her dragon side and feeling terrible about emotional breakups in between bouts of sex between four males. Suddenly, she's in love with all of them, even though there have only been approximately two conversations with each male.

Even the mystery of the overarching plot line is anti-climactic.

I will not be continuing.

My mates

Wow! A fascinating plot full of action, adventures, magical mayhem, and unpredictable surprises! These characters are dragons, the men are sexy, hot, and awesome, the women are beautiful, sassy, and independent! Wanting to deny her dragon side, determined to live as a human, fate interferes by giving her
four dragons to love! Since fighting her feelings isn’t working, helping her sister solve the mystery of the stone, and coming to terms with her dragon will have to do for now! I loved the ending, and the surprises, can’t wait to see what happens next!

Some irritations for me.
1. Heroine is flaky. she says one thing, does another.
2. One of the Heroes is a man-whore. I don't like it when a male love interest keeps whoring around with other women after the first sexual encounter. This guy had sex with 2 or 3 more women after. The freaking day after!
3. I figured out the mystery pretty darn quickly. Not much of a surprise really.

So now, I am mildly interested in the next one but not really interested at all in the Main Characters.

Meet Lyssa, dragoness, but dead set to live her life as a human, among humans. If she has to meet dragons it would be her cousin or her sister. But male dragons? No way!
Well, you know the saying about well laid plans!
Stuck at the home of a dominant clan leader due to mysterious things happening, she is right in the middle of ancient magic, artifacts with unknown powers, and four determined, hunky dragons.
This is the first book of a new series and the possibilities are endless.
