A trio of UNCW Women's Basketball players were recognized as All-CAA performers Tuesday afternoon.

Newcomers GiGi Smith and Shrita Parker were both named to the conference's second team, while junior Lacey Suggs was a third-team selection.

UNCW was left out of all five major awards. Drexel's Bailey Greenberg was named player of the year, and Towson's Diane Richardson was named coach of the year.

Smith averaged 15.3 points and 5.2 rebounds per game as a junior. The transfer from Old Dominion also recorded three double-doubles.

Parker was just behind Smith, scoring 15.1 points per game and dishing out three assists per contest. The senior who transferred from Rutgers took home the United States Basketball Wrtiters Association National Player of the Week Award on Jan. 22 after leading UNCW to victories over Towson and James Madison, scoring the game-winning points in each game.

Suggs also reached double-figure scoring this season, averaging 10.2 points to go along with 4.7 rebounds per game.

UNCW opens play in the CAA Tournament Thursday. The No. 3 Seahawks will face No. 6 Northeastern at 7:30 p.m.

In addition to Greenberg, William & Mary's Bianca Boggs, Northeastern's Jess Genco, Towson's Kionna Jeter and James Madison's Kamiah Smalls made the All-CAA first team list.
