Warrior of the Week - Week of 11/4/19
Marly is a wonderful student who works really hard and does not let anything stand in her way. she has a "no excuses" attitude and is always willing to help others. I believe Marly is a deserving recipient of the W.O.W she is quiet, but her work ethic and heart speak volumes.

GT STUDENTS
Hello GT Families!
In an effort to improve communication between our campus and our GT community, each GT student will be receiving a physical parent postcard at the end of each nine weeks via United States Postal Service. The GT teachers will be noting the differentiation techniques and strategies that your student received in class based on their educational strengths and needs. You will only receive one postcard each nine weeks, that may have multiple teacher responses on it. On the postcard, you will hear from teachers of classes in which your child has been identified as GT. For instance, if your child is GT in math and science, then you will only see responses from the math and science teacher on your postcard.
Also on this postcard, you will find an update on your students research pathway. Some students have a mentor teacher that will be assisting them during this process.
Please feel free to discuss the items you see on the postcard with your students. They can give you descriptions of activities and classwork in which they have participated. If you need further clarification, please contact your student’s teacher.
Thank you for being an active part of your student’s educational life. We hope that this communication will build community and open discussion that will benefit our GT students and teachers in the future.
Gratefully,
Doerre Advanced Academics Team

Brandi Halverson - GT Counselor

WATCHDOGS
Staff/Fathers and father-figures of Doerre students,
On December 11th from 5:00 – 6:00 pm we will be having our 1st annual ‘Dads and Kids’ Pizza Night at our school. At 5:15pm we will have a presentation about our WATCH D.O.G.S.® (Dads Of Great Students) Program. We would like to have staff/ fathers and father figures be the founding members of this program, to encourage other fathers of Doerre students to participate.
WATCH D.O.G.S.® is an innovative program being used by schools across America which helps them to be positively impacted by the committed involvement of fathers and father-figures in their student’s life. Our goal is to have you spend at least one day this year at the school to be a positive male role model and to provide an extra set of eyes and ears.
Dads, granddads, uncles, step-dads and adult brothers this is your chance to have a night out alone with your student in a fun atmosphere at school.

Basic Doerre Information
Important Information: Student Arrival Time
Students are not allowed in the building before 8 AM unless they have a pass for a specific teacher, date and time.
If a student arrives at school before 8 AM they will need to wait in front until the building is open.
We wish we could allow all students in upon their arrival, but there have been some issues with students roaming the building before 8 AM. It is not safe to allow this to continue and we need your help with this matter.
Notes from the Crossing Guards to Cut Down on Traffic
2. Please do NOT pick up students in the middle of the road. They are running across traffic. This is dangerous and is holding up other cars.
3. When pulling onto or out of Warrior Way, do not block the crosswalk.
4. Please be present when driving around children. Watch for students at crosswalks, drive through crosswalks cautiously, knowing that students aren't paying attention.
5. Please follow the speed limits. School zones are 20 MPH max.....
6. Please tell your child that all students need to completely get off of their bikes and scooters when walking through a crosswalk.
Food and Drinks
We understand that there are exceptions and that there may be someone with a medical condition that needs quick access to a snack or a drink, this is not the issue.
Water bottles are okay, everyone needs an occasional drink....as long as they have a screw on top and are securely stored inside of backpacks. This water may not be taken out in classrooms if a teacher does not allow it or in hallways. The water may also not be out around any Chromebooks due to insurance purposes.
Thank you so much for your help in this!
