About this event

The Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC), in collaboration with the U.S. Department of Labor (USDOL), is hosting this workshop on how to prepare competitive applications for funding available through Workforce Opportunity for Rural Communities (WORC): A Grant Initiative for the Appalachian and Delta Regions.

Topics covered during the workshop will include funding eligibility, application process, performance measures, and application requirements as well as information on best practices related to the role of strategic workforce development in rural economies.

The workshop will run from 8:30 am – 3:30 pm and will include a light breakfast and lunch.

Representatives from eligible organizations are encouraged to attend: State, County, City, Township, and Special District Governments; Regional Organizations; Independent School Districts; Public/State Controlled and Private Institutions of Higher Education; Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs); Indian/Native American Tribal Governments (Federally Recognized, Other than Federally Recognized) and Tribally Designated Organizations; Public/Indian Housing; Nonprofit Organizations; and Tribally Controlled Colleges And Universities (TCCUs).

Pre-registration is required as space is limited. Registration for this event closes Monday, June 3.

The WORC Initiative provides grant funds to enable impacted communities to develop local and regional workforce development solutions aligned with existing economic development strategies and community partnerships to promote new, sustainable job opportunities and long-term economic vitality. It is expected that $29.2 million will be made available, and grant amounts will range from $150,000 up to $2.5 million. The application deadline is July 15, 2019, at 4:00 pm Eastern Daylight Time.
