Alcuni sviluppi legati all'evento drammatico li ho trovati molto commoventi e l'epilogo bello!

High Reward picks up right where High Risk left off. With Ryan faced with the ultimate choice. And I won’t lie - I was a tad nervous. For Ryan. For Gray. For all of them. His relationship with Gray is Earth altering. And he knows that - yet what is most important? A promise made under duress or love.
Love, right?
Right....
In High Reward we watch as Ryan and Gray both have to come to terms with choices they have made as well as choices others have made for them. It’s explosive as the pair try and grapple with their feelings for one another when they are just out of reach.
Ms. Aubrey did her research on all things NASA and it made the book that much more enjoyable.
Absolutely loved this duet.

High Reward is the conclusion to the Point Of No return Duet, continuing on from where book 1 left us. I have been eagerly awaiting this follow up. After enjoying a romance novel based in a setting I haven't come across before though High Risk (book 1), it made the story feel fresh and captured my interest.

So we are back with Ryan and Gray and this book gets down and deep on the emotional front, which is what I loved about this book. High Risk set the scene, let us get to know our Hero and heroine, gave them a backstory, set up their chemistry and we watched it explode. This time around we get to see all of that fall apart and see how each character copes with their own flaws and issues. Call me a sadist but I love when it all goes wrong for the main protagonists, it is then we get to witness them stripped bare and really SEE them, really understand them.

Gray has such strength and I found her to be a very likeable heroine throughout the duet. I loved how even as she was devastated inside, she was stoic and professional at work and she still fought for Ryan to be the man she knows he is; she still tries everything to get him to realise this for himself. Ryan is such a stubborn male, he doesn't quit punishing and holding himself responsible for another man's decision. Ryan is an man of integrity and honour, Brenna wrote the battle between this and his love for Gray so well, really capturing his inner turmoil to fulfil the promises he made, no matter the cost.

As I read High Reward the level of detailing and research Brenna built into the story for the cosmonaut elements were impressive and added to the dynamic of the story. Alongside Ryan's back story we get to see more of his relationship with Karen and her son. For me this showed Ryan in a new light and I just fell for him even more, highlighting the level of loyalty he really fights to uphold and the sacrifices he is prepared to make to do so.

I don't want to explain too much about the plot details as this novel is enjoyed best just going with the flow. Just know it has a deeper emotionality to it compared to book 1 and the characters truly do shine. Brenna gave this book a mature feel with the story elements it covers, the whole duet just felt fresh and interesting to me and I am very glad I have had the chance to read and review both books.

I don’t even know where to start with this book. Or this duet of books since they fit seamlessly together and should always be read back to back. It’s hard to rave about all the things I loved without giving away spoilers.
This story continues to follow Ryan Tyler, a famous astronaut battling his inner demons after the death of his best friend, and Gray Barrett an aspiring flight psychologist tasked with getting him back on the strait and narrow. From the beginning of High Risk when Ty was dealing with his issues in all the wrong ways and was a somewhat unlikable hero I was hurting for him. I really liked him and Gray together but I really appreciated the realistic approach to his healing process. Gray was an awesome support for him even while going through her own problems and character development. But this isn’t a love heals all romance. We get to go through the stages of grief and healing from both points of view and that makes the HEA in High Reward more believable and yes rewarding.
Theres plenty of angst that comes with the topic of PTSD as well as the star crossed romance having its own issues as well. I guess after the first impressions in High Risk I was bracing myself for cheating or rebounding from Ty but I’m happy to say the only thing that got me triggered was my own anxiety from all things space. I was really feeling his fears and anxiety with him. Which is probably not something anyone else should have a problem with.

High Reward continues where High Risk left us, with that happy for now. And, spoiler alert! That changes and quite drastically.

Beautiful, angst-ridden, and emotional. This book will have you feeling ALL the emotions and swearing all the curse words, and swooning all the swoons. It is everything I could have hoped for and then some. One of the best books of 2018.

It’s no secret that I love broken characters. The more they behave a-holeish the more I love them, and Ryan Tyler fits that bill perfectly. He was everything I loved. A character that I could equally love and hate…okay, hate’s a little strong – I didn’t hate him, I just wanted to punch him in the nads a few times. His brokeness was endearing, his inner turmoil and guilt really made it hard not to understand some of the decisions he made…even if I didn’t agree with them. In his mind, he was doing the right thing and that is what made him so endearing. Gray is everything. This book really brought her character out of her shell and although I liked her before, I absolutely adore her now. She’s a fighter who fought hard. She wasn’t going to go away quietly to make things easy. Her strength was what got them both through some tough situations and that was a joy to read about. The chemistry between them was palpable. They were figuratively on fire and it was melt your kindles type of sexy. There is a scene that mirrors a scene in High Risk and it was just heartbreaking. Watching him finally ‘get it’ and come to terms with his loss and admit to himself how he was feeling and that there was a problem just made the story come together perfectly. Mirroring the scenes was pure genius. I loved that detail so much. It really gave a nice feel of coming full circle for the characters. I loved that the characters didn’t need saving, but were able to save themselves and have the support of the other. The epilogue was perfect. It was perfect for this couple. And exactly what they deserved. Because after everything they had been through they deserved some happiness.

I loved the character and story development throughout this duet. It gives you so much to connect with. So many threads to follow that it’s beautiful. Heck, you even get a side romance. Plus, lots of breadcrumbs for future stories. I cannot wait for more. This is one of my favourite books of the year. Speaking of characters, Pari continued to be a favourite and her side-romance was a cute addition to the story. Noah…sigh, I still need his story ASAP. I had concerns about Keely and I have never been happier to be wrong. I loved her and I hope she gets a HEA – if not in a story of her own, then as a side-story in one of the other books.

If you’ve been hanging on until the duet was complete to dive in. Now is the time. If you’ve been hanging on because you are a fan of the Gaming the System series and the thought of a new series scares you – I get it, what if you don’t like these new characters, right? Trust me. If you enjoy Brenna’s writing, you will LOVE this duet. You still get the same attention to detail, you get the geeky goodness and pop culture references that you’ve become accustomed too. You get characters you can’t help but have a reaction to – in every way. You’ll want to bash heads, you’ll fall in love. You’ll curse all the curse words. You get the character and story development you’re used to. YOU WILL SWOON! Oh, and you still get a little Adam & Mia too. What are you waiting for?

I've read many of Brenna Aubrey's books and LOVE them. I was immediately pulled into Mia and Adam's story so when I heard about this spin-off I couldn't wait to read it. Brenna Aubrey did not disappoint. She has this great way of combining romance, with drama, heartache, betrayal, determination, chemistry in spades with characters who are not your typical hero and heroine. Gray and Ryan pulled me in from the get go and had me feeling as invested in them as I did with Adam and Mia. There were definitely times where I wanted to smack Ryan and tell him to get his head out of his... and then other times where I wanted to give him a hug. Gray is far from perfect either with her own host of issues and there were times when I wanted to tell her to stop being so stoic and show her emotions for once. Once I started reading I did not want to put the book down, although at times I had to to reach for a tissue. There were SO many ups and downs for these two and times when I wondered how they could possibly find their way through it all. This duet is heartfelt, heartwrenching and heartwarming. And now I want to go back and read Adam and Mia's stories all over again. This is one of those duets I have no doubt I'll be reading again. Looking forward to seeing what's next for Brenna Aubrey...was seeing a potential spinoff with Karen and Noah...hmmm.

Stunningly beautiful conclusion to this two part series.

Gray Barrett has finally decided to follow her damaged heart and fall in love but can she keep it from being emotionally torn apart by the former playboy, Commander Ryan Tyler.  When Ryan is faced with a hard-hitting decision, he must decide whether to follow his heart or his head, but will his self-worth stand in the way of making the right choice.

Gray is such a sweet girl and all the way through this book I was cheering her corner.  When she was happy, I was happy.  When she was sad, I was sad.  And when she was angry, I was right there with her! What she has had to deal with both now, with Ryan, and in the past, with her parents, has made her an emotional strong individual but when she finally lets go it really is heart-breaking (yes, I did cry!).

Ryan has the weight of the world on his shoulders and believes that he really isn't good enough for Gray.  I can understand his desire to fly again and the promise he made to Xander but...that stupid proposition he makes to Karen, what was he thinking?! and more's the point, why was she even considering it?

This book is filled with hunky astronauts and geeky space girls, and as a sci-fi fan I absolutely love the T.V., film and book references that run throughout.   If you enjoyed Gaming the System you will love this series.

This is the exciting conclusion to the Point Of No Return duet. You do need to read High Risk (book 1) first. You'll be glad you did and that this book is available immediately when you do.

This picks up where astronaut Ryan "Ty" Tyler and Gray Barrett, a flight psychologist, left off in book one. Ryan is a reformed playboy and out-of-control risk taker in many forms. Gray is helping him with his issues, not professionally, but very personally, while trying not to seem like she is helping. Their relationship grows closer leading to him being her first lover, and her his last. The sexual tension is off the charts and they burn up she sheets (and many other surfaces). Then Ryan is forced with the choice of fulfilling his promise to his deceased best friend to return to space, or to his heart and the future he wants with Gray. This book will take you on an emotional roller coaster, in the best of ways, as they sort through all their new feelings and past landmines. Strap in tight, you are in for a hell of a ride with High Rewards.

I found myself reading late into the night (actually early morning) as I just could not put down this awesome book. Brenna Aubrey has outdone her self again. You will most certainly want to read High Risk before jumping in to High Rewards to read this sizzle story of Ryan Tyler and Gray Barrett. It will bring you laughter and tears, tension and compassion. But most importantly you will enjoy this 5 star read.

This is the conclusion to High Risk and this book is fraught with so many ups and downs. Man, my emotions were all over the place reading this. I couldn't get through it fast enough and wanted to delay it, just to savour all that happens. My heart was still hurting for Ryan and his survivors guilt.

Mind you, my feelings, they were mainly aimed at Ryan. I really wanted to smack him But, also, I really wanted him to see himself they way we see him and Gray. He's is so stubborn but it's also works to his advantage with the lights situation. When he has that first serious conversation with Karen (you'll know which one) I was screaming at him not to do it. No, nope wasn't going to happen! I wouldn't allow it. (Ok, really is was up to Ms Aubrey not to allow it, lol)

Gray was such a strong woman. I loved her. I think she is one of the bravest warriors I've ever read. She fought like hell to get Ryan to see his true self, even when he wouldn't listen. I loved that she came out of her shell and showed her true feelings in Tahoe. That whole scene was fantastic. I wonder if her hand hurt? I liked that she was starting to realise that she could come out of her comfort zone. To stand up for what she wanted in life, take huge risks.

Loved every page of this book. I loved the side characters too. I wonder if Karen will get her own book, with Noah?? I loved how easy and down to earth Keely was too, and not this bitchy, entitled movie star.

An absolutely amazing ending to a truly fantastic duet!! I couldn't read this book fast enough. It has EVERY you need in a steamy romantic story with a strong female lead, and a guy worth having her. I couldn't put this book down, in fact, I'm thinking about opening the first book and reading them both all over again!! A definite MUST READ!! This story is unforgettable.

Part two in the amazing series of a troubled astronaut and the woman who is trying to save him. As with all Brenna Aubrey’s books, you get characters who are full of flaws, broken in so many ways but are willing to fight through for love. What I love about her work is the way that she develops the story and characters. There are so many incredible layers in her stories and there is always these critical
moments where it could go in various directions. Her stories are full of real life issues. They may not be parallel to our lives but ones we can relate to wholly. Nobody is perfect in her books and Ryan and Gray have their own issues and insecurities but together they just make sense and are a whole. You want to reach through the book and hug them yourself. I also really enjoy the geekiness in her stories and the incredible female role models she writes. Where else can you find a kick butt female who knows about space travel. Swoon worthy moments, drama, interesting supporting characters and a story that just spins leaves me wanting more.

I absolutely LOVE this duet!
I've been needing a good steamy damaged-man-meets-strong-woman romance with all the angst and feels. This set hit the spot! I ate up all that turmoil and heartbreak like a starved reader! It hurts so good...
It is great, too, to read a storyline that is different than so many that are already out there. I loved the premise of the space flight, the astronaut team dynamics, the PTSD situations, and the therapist side of things (Gray riding the line of not being a therapist but focusing on being a friend).

I feel like the whole story came together really well. I was hooked from the beginning and couldn't put it down! I highly recommend these books! <3

Such a great ending to Ryan and Gary's story.
Ryan is a broken man, he breaks Grays heart but she won't let him see that, Gray realizes she can't fix him. When Ryan starts to heal will Gray take the risk her heart again with Ryan or will she guard herself? Is the Reward worth the risk?

Warning do not start this book right before bed!
I didn’t sleep; I read. I was falling asleep at my desk the next day, but this book was worth it!
I even daydreamed of hearing Commander Tyler speaking Russian to me.
My stomach was in knots, and I had to get to the end to find out what was going to happen.

The author absolutely delivered on the conclusion to Gray and Ryan's story!

"I love listening to your heart beat when it's so quiet it's the only thing I can hear."

Ryan is wrestling with his conscience, his guilt, and an ultimatum that was issued to him. Gray is everything he needs. She brings light and happiness to his life, but he questions if he really deserves her.

"There was something in his eyes, a flicker of emotion that speared me right through the heart and wrapped around my lungs, making it a struggle to breathe."

Gray is so happy with Ryan. His tender words and their solid connection prompts her to lay her heart on the line, only for him to break it.

"With my body I was telling her the things I wished I could say with words - That she held my heart in her hands. And she could crush it at any time."

This second book was everything I could have wished for. The anguish, the emotions, the push and pull between Gray and Ryan. Gray's pain and confusion, and Ryan's guilt and stubbornness about what he thinks he deserves. The desperate desire and love between them. They both had issues to deal with, and it was clear that they needed each other to get through it. They saw one another for what they really were and, in spite of their flaws, they loved the other unconditionally. Gorgeous duet!

Part 2 of High Risk. (I still think that's a cheap shot-a 2 part romance. Kinda like The Hobbit movies!)
But I loved it! Gotta admit, I cried. Super romantic and H. O. T. Interesting psychological angle that ramped it up a notch from the usual pulp romance stuff. And set in the world of astronauts and space flights. Cool.

Salve lettrici,
L’ho divorata veramente in pochissime ore!
Buona lettura!

Recensione a cura di Aoidos per Feel the Book

Voto 4,5
