Shades of Purple

About the Event

Join us for Shades of Purple, a one-day student conference for underrepresented minority high school seniors (Class of 2024) in Washington who are interested in applying to the University of Washington as freshmen.

Shades of Purple was created to encourage you to pursue higher education as well as to give you the opportunity to experience the University of Washington. You will attend workshops to prepare you for the UW admission process, learn about campus programs, meet admissions staff and much more.

We are hosting the Shades of Purple Conference in-person and virtually. All sessions will follow the same agenda, please see registration below for full details such as dates and locations.

Note: Participation is open to all students regardless of race or ethnic background.

Permission Form

Students are required to submit a permission form to participate in the event. You will be emailed a permission form via DocuSign several days before the event. As soon as you receive it, please have a parent or guardian digitally submit the form.

Additional Information

If you attended a Shades of Purple Conference over the summer, please consider attending one of our Application Workshops.

Due to space capacity and specific programming, advanced registration is required, and this event is for students only (no additional guests).

Schools/community organizations:

All students will need to be registered in advance individually or by teachers/chaperones.

Bringing a bus or a group of students? Email Sylvie Shiosaki, Assistant Director of MOR, at shshio2@uw.edu for chaperone information.
