Could This Upstate NY Singer be The Next Kelly Clarkson?

American Idol is just getting started this season and they're off to a fantastic start.

If you're on social media you have probably seen a ton of the American Idol auditions going viral. Personally I got sucked into watching half of the performances from weeks past last night. There is a ton of a talent out there and it looks like they're all on Idol this season.

Luke Bryan, Katy Perry and Lionel Richie are on the hunt for the next Kelly Clarkson and last night, they might have found her.

16 year old Madison Vandenburg performed on the reality show last night during the audition phase and blew the judges away. During her performance of Dan + Shay's "Speechless" Katy and Luke both at one point indicated that they were getting goosebumps. Take a look at her performance:

If you were looking for a local Hudson Valley contestant to support, Vandenburg is the closest we have as of right now. Vandenburg lives in Cohoes, New York, which is in the Albany area.

American Idol airs Sunday and Monday on ABC at 8pm.
