Once you sign up, you are confirmed as a volunteer. No further action is needed.
On Monday, January 20th, Montgomery County will celebrate the Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service. We will join with thousands of Americans across the country who will celebrate the national holiday honoring the life and work of Dr. King by doing service in their communities.
Montgomery County's main service event will take place again this year at the Bethesda North Marriott Conference Center. The event will include service projects and a volunteer fair from 1PM – 3PM. Service projects include family friendly activities such as decorating cards, packaging food, constructing fleece blankets, and assembling "Snow Day" boxes. You may not sign up for any particular project ahead of time.
Details:
- Please park at the White Flint Metro - parking is free on this Federal holiday. Use the walkway under Rockville Pike to get to the Marriott
- Bring an extra coat for for a coat collection led by the Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc., Tri Sigma Alumni Chapter
- Students can pick up SSL forms at Registration Tables at the end of the event.
- This event will occur rain or shine (or snow!) unless a state of emergency is declared and we are asked to stay off of roads. Check this page for updates.
