State health officials on Wednesday, June 3, announced 511 new COVID-19 infections and 75 additional deaths.

This brings the statewide tally to 73,405 cases and 5,742 deaths.

The majority of hospitalizations and deaths are among those age 65 and older.

Allegheny County on Wednesday reported 24 additional COVID-19 infections, one hospitalization and no new deaths. Since March 14, the county has reported 1,952 COVID cases, 345 past and present hospitalizations and 152 deaths.

The ages of the county’s COVID-related deceased range from 42 to 103 years, with 85 the median age.

The Pennsylvania Department of Health announced that the agency last week held a meeting of the first consortium in the southwest region to discuss contact tracing needs and plans.

“Contact tracing is an essential function of public health as we work to identify those who may have come into contact with cases of COVID-19,” Health Secretary Dr. Rachel Levine said in a press release.

Mobilized by the Jewish Healthcare Foundation, attendees included public health agencies, businesses, federally qualified health centers, foundations, health systems, universities and colleges, among others.
