Pitt Research

TO: All Pitt Researchers

With care and consideration for the health and safety of the Pitt community, and conforming with public health advisories, we are announcing the first phase of restarting onsite research at Pitt. On Wednesday, June 3, we will provide resources to begin the plan submission and approval process.

To begin this phased restart, each PI must submit their plan to their dean or regional campus president. The plan must clearly define an approach for scheduling and a process for allocating time and access to address COVID-driven implications.

The dean or regional campus president will review and consider approval of the submission, ensuring that each PI’s research restart plan complies with the research restart guidelines. A campus-level committee -- the Pitt Research Restart Standards and Clearance Committee – is working to make available a set of essential restart guidelines and planning templates approved for use across all areas of scholarship and research.

We urge researchers who can conduct their work remotely to continue to do so.

We will send you an update on Wednesday, June 3 with more detail and links to materials.

Again, please accept my appreciation for your patience as we work through this phased approach to restarting onsite research at Pitt.
