Marketing & Client Service Intern - Tafel Scholarship

The internships at Select Sports Group provide a great deal of hands-on experience in sport and entertainment marketing, public relations, event planning, client management, and creative services. It is a great opportunity for a passionate, creative, and focused undergraduate or graduate student who is interested in a career in sports/entertainment marketing, public relations, or management to learn and grow in a top five sports agency. Over the course of the term, interns work closely with our public relations, marketing, creative, and support staff, assisting in a variety of both challenging and interesting projects surrounding our professional athletes, coaches, and executives as well as potential clients. 

Role Outline: 
  • Assisting Clients in daily tasks 
  • Analyze current contracts in the NFL for clients who are coming up on a new contract 
  • Researching and generating new information for agents in player recruitment 
  • Researching and gathering statistics for clients coming up on new contracts in the league 
  • Researching and preparing agents for meetings with potential new clients 
  • Researching and gathering information on potential new clients headed to the NFL draft 
  • Researching, coordinating, and assisting event logistics (ESPYS, Kids Choice Sports Awards, youth football camps, etc.) 
  • Identifying potential new marketing opportunities for clients 
  • General office duties and administrative services as assigned 

Requirements 
  • Must receive college credit (no exceptions; does not have to be part of a degree-seeking program) 
  • Preferably pursuing a master’s or bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, marketing, event management, sport management, graphic design, or related fields 
  • Previous public relations, event planning, or sports marketing experience a plus, especially if entertainment-industry related 
  • Extremely organized and able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously 
  • Polished written and oral communication skills 
  • Strong ability to work as part of a team, as some coworkers will be in satellite offices 
  • Strong knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) 
  • Functional knowledge of and Adobe Creative Suite a plus
