We hope to identify specific individual, familial, and environmental factors that interact in late childhood to predict which youth will develop maladaptive patterns of substance use from which youth will not.
In addition to substance use, we are also interested in the development and structure of psychopathology more broadly.
We use cutting edge statistics to address real world challenges to understanding the structure and developmental of psychopathology. We focus on comorbidity and whether specific developmental patterns predict specific sequences of the development of comorbid psychopathology and substance use disorders.
