>> RIGHT NOW, THIS IS WLKY NEWS AT 6:00. RICK: JEFFERSON COUNTY SCHOOLS HAS ANNOUNCED A NEW SPACE WHERE FAMILIES CAN GET HELP WHILE STUDENTS ARE STILL LEARNING FROM HOME. THE 360-DEGREE SUPPORT CENTER IS LOCATED ACROSS TWO FLOORS OF HUMANA’S WATERSIDE BUILDING. THAT’S WHERE PEOPLE CAN GET COMPUTER HELP, SPECIAL EDUCATION SCREENINGS, OR OTHER CRITICAL SERVICES. THE GOAL IS TO GIVE FAMILIES A ONE-STOP PLACE WHERE THEY CAN SAFELY GET HELP. >> I WANT TO ENCOURAGE FAMILIES, IF YOU NEED ANY ASSISTANCE, THIS IS A GREAT PLACE TO COME AND GET SUPPORT. Jefferson County Public Schools and Humana are partnering up to give families in-person help on everything from navigating non-traditional instruction to language translation services.Humana is donating two floors of its Waterside Building for the JCPS 360° Student & Family Support Center, a one-stop, social distancing-friendly service center in downtown Louisville. The space is available because Humana employees who would typically work there are currently working from home due to the pandemic.“We’re excited that Humana and its employees are offering this large space for JCPS to essentially set up satellite district offices,” said Dr. Marty Pollio, JCPS superintendent. “This is a tremendous opportunity for our families to get the safe, face-to-face help they’re requesting, everything from guidance on using Chromebooks and Google Classroom to language translation services.”Services will include: Special education screenings. Parent Portal support.Enrollment and school choice information and help. Language translation services.IT support with computers, education, and digital platforms. Louisville Metro Office of Resilience and Community Services - eviction prevention, neighborhood place services, financial case management. Doctors for Healthy Communities - physicals, vision and hearing screenings. The JCPS 360° Student & Family Support Center at Humana, located at 101 E. Main St., is available by appointment Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. through at least the end of the year. Families can make an appointment by visiting https://signup.com/go/pNsoYzt.Parking is available in Humana’s surface parking lot at Washington and Brook streets free of charge to families during their appointments. Families should enter the Waterside building using the Washington Street entrance.
