Texas Architecture Deans to Discuss Urban Life
On Tuesday, April 2, the Dallas Museum of Art will be hosting an Architecture Dean Roundtable at 7:00 P.M. in partnership with the Dallas Architecture Forum. The discussion will focus on the future of urban life in Texas and be led by the state’s top deans of architecture and urban planning from universities like the University of Texas, UT Arlington, Texas A&M, and Texas Tech.
Christy Murphy Named VP of Hoefer Wysocki
Hoefer Wysocki, an architecture, interior planning, and design firm in Dallas, has promoted Christy Murphy to vice president. Murphy is currently the project manager for the design of the Tower 3 expansion at UT Southwestern’s William P. Clements Jr. University Hospital in Dallas.
Downtown Houston Home Tour to Exhibit Luxury Residences
Luxury apartments and condos in downtown Houston will open up for the first time with the Downtown Houston Home Tour on March 30 and 31. The tour begins at Heritage Texas Properties, where experts will speak about the properties. A free Greenlink shuttle will take attendees to six properties, including Bayou Lofts, Block 334, Catalyst, the historic W.L. Foley Building, 500 Crawford, and St. Germain, which will have a loft on display with a bathroom and closet space redesign by Theresa Hildreth of Metromorphis Design.
Texas Design Week Houston Ends Tomorrow
The design festival is closing tomorrow with two panel discussions. AD PRO editor Katy B. Olson will moderate a talk with Paloma Contreras and Shaun Smith at 11:00 AM at Found, and Jean-Louis Deniot will have a book signing at 6:30 PM at the Fayez and Susan Sarofim House.
Historic Medical Towers to Become Westin Hotel
The Medical Towers building in Houston, a midcentury hotel designed by SOM in 1957, will be remodeled into a 273-room Westin. The building has been on the National Register of Historic Places since 2016 and is located at 1709 Dryden. The renovation is slated to kick off in May and is planned to be completed in 2020.
