Services and Materials
The Law Library is open to the public. The Librarian can help patrons locate and use relevant materials, suggest possible sources, and help define research questions.
Library staff are not attorneys, and may not perform services that might constitute the unauthorized practice of law such as interpreting statutes, cases or regulations, filling out forms or giving legal advice. We can provide you with legal information as well as contact information for attorney referral or legal service organizations that may assist you.
The Library’s print collection focuses primarily on Georgia law and provides access to print and online materials. It includes Georgia form books, law treatises and practice guides, Georgia Jurisprudence, Georgia Digest, Official Code of Georgia, and Georgia Laws. The library also has law reviews from several Georgia law schools, Georgia Appeals Reports, Georgia Reports, and Shepard’s Georgia Citations. Some federal materials, including the United States Code, are available. We also have legal self-help books and several legal encyclopedias.
Westlaw and Lexis are available for free online legal research (printing charges apply).
Library materials may not be checked out or removed from the library.

Directions
Persons serving on jury duty are not permitted in the Law Library until they have been officially released.
Public Computers and WiFi
Two computers are available for legal research and word processing, subject to a time limit. Bring your own USB flash drive if you wish to save documents. There is no charge to use the computers; printing costs 15 cents per page (cash).
WiFi service is available in the Law Library and in the lobbies and courtrooms of the ground floor through 7th floor of the Courthouse’s Judicial Tower.
For Internet and e-mail use that is not law or case-related, please visit a branch of the DeKalb County Public Library (http://www.dekalblibrary.org). The Decatur branch is two blocks from the courthouse.
Online Legal Research
WestlawNext and Lexis Advance are available for free online legal research in Georgia primary and secondary law sources, federal and state cases and codes, and legal encyclopedias, among other materials. Printing charges apply.
Copies and Prints
A photocopier is available and a printer is connected to the library’s two public computers.
Photocopies and prints cost 15 cents per page (cash only, no bills larger than $20).
Conference Rooms
Attorneys may reserve one of the library’s conference rooms in advance by calling the library.
