Senior year.
Three girls. Three guys.
Hockey and rivalry.
Mean girls and friendships.
Old loves and new chances.
One more year of being invisible.
One more year to win it all.
The countdown begins.

Senior year can’t come or end fast enough for Amelia Campbell. For the shy, nerdy girl-next-door that she is, high school is torture and all she wants is for it to be over. Having her heart broken by a popular, womanizing boy all those years ago doesn’t help the matters. Nor does his best friend who still has a habit of mercilessly teasing her. Now, she only has one year left, one year to be invisible before she can move on with her life.

Derek King doesn’t do drama, but his life is all about drama once Maximillian Sanders steps foot into his town, his school, and into Amelia’s life. Max is always around, and he is making her smile again. But the boy who once broke her heart isn’t ready to let her go. Older and wiser, Derek isn’t about to let someone take away what he wants, and he wants Amelia.

She's set on not believing in him and on not getting her heart broken once again. He is set on showing her wrong.

She says she hates him, but maybe the line between past and present, love and hate is thinner than she ever realized.

Lots of grammar mistakes. The heroine was a doormat and the hero was an asshole. Since this book is marketed as a hate-to-love romance, I thought the heroine and hero were going to go tat for tat, but the heroine lets everyone walk all over her and I can’t tolerate that.

When I started Lines, I had no idea what to expect as Anna B. Doe is a new author to me. What I discovered was a wonderful, heartbreaking and refreshing story, which touched me deeply. With her captivating writing style, the author created characters with beautiful souls and amazing chemistry.

The story follows Amelia and Derek, who have known each other since they were young kids. The attraction between them is immediate, but due to their different social circles, the two can never be. Derek is a good looking and popular jock while Amelia is a quiet and reserved book worm.

Enter the two new students, Max and Jeanette. Max is instantly drawn to Amelia and the two of them grow close. This sparks jealousy in Derek, forcing him to make a play for her. Can he convince Amelia that his feelings for her are genuine? After all, he never stood up for her as his best friend Andrew consistently teased her over the years.

Overall, I found this story to be special, deep, down to earth and so full of love that I felt as if my heart just might burst. I loved each and every swoon-worthy, heart fluttering and heartbreaking moment. This story is guaranteed to take you on one amazing journey. I can't wait to get my hands on the next installment in this wonderful YA sports romance series.

DNF @ 18%. I found Derek to be abusive and controlling. I don’t understand why toxic relationships like this are promoted in books for young readers.

My fingers clench around soft material that is shoved into my hands. I look down at the white shirt. “What is this?”
He squirms under my confused, yet watchful stare. And if I’m not imagining it, I think I can see traces of redness coming up his cheeks. “My jersey.”
My heart skips a beat before starting to race rapidly. “And why would I need your jersey?”
“God,” he groans in frustration. “Can you be like a normal girl and just take it?”

I didn't hate this book but I also didn't like it all that much. It was okay overall but mostly I felt it was a little too boring and not enough was happening to show that these two characters were good together. Maybe I went into it expecting more angst than we got and that was the problem.

“Because the line between love and hate is thin,” I murmur softly. “So-fucking-thin. And I love you more then I hate you.” 💙

This is my first book by Anna and I enjoyed every single word.

I like her writing style. She drag me in the story so easy that I couldn't stop reading till the end. I like that we got both point of view in one book, because I really love to know what the main characters think, what they feel, what or who they like/love.

This is lovely YA sports romance that introduces us with Amelia, sweet nerd girl who loves Harry Potter, TV shows, books and dogs. I completely find myself in her, even though I'm more cat person. And there is Derek the king of high school, he wants Lia only for himself, but he doesn't know how to convince her that he loves her. I'm glad that Max shows up and mess his plans. He needed someone to shake him up and make him fight for a girl.

I can't wait for the second book and find out who are main characters. 💙

Amelia Campbell
Derek King

Max Sanders
Brook Taylor

Andrew Hill
Jeanette Sanders

These are the contestants of a YA highschool sport romance drama.

Insert a little bit of angst, a push and pull, jock likes a nerdy girl but makes fun of her cause he wants to stay a tough guy in front of his teammates, but he actually liked her forever, and then when he finally reaches her to show her how he really feels, the mean girls/ex hook-up stirs a scene, making some extra problems fir our hero and he needs to grovel and prove himself all over again

...ah, same ol' same ol' I didn't really 'feel' the connection or the love between them, theymerely started it, in my humble opinion, BUT the story was fluent, and for me, the secondary cast (Max, Jeanette, Brook) were the ones that held the story for me.

However, if you love these type of stories than this should work for you just fine!

I’m kind of irritated at myself for even reading this mediocre book. Everything about this story just irritated me. Seriously, that’s the only thing I can think to say about this book. It was irritating.

The main characters, Amelia and Derek were lame and the side characters weren’t anything special.
Apparently, Brook was Amelia’s (Lia, which I don’t get why every character has some nickname? Except Max) Best friend but it was like they didn’t know much about each other. Yeah, I get Brook has some secrets at home (I’m sure there’s a second book and it’ll be about Brooke, which I won’t be reading) but I don’t know... I share everything with my best friend. She knows who my first kiss was or even when I tried weed for the first time. These two were not book worthy friends to write about. And they NEVER wanted to do anything. Nothing. Not a sleep over at the school, not a game, not even for a ride. NOTHING. Boring ass characters *eye roll*

Derek and his “best friend” were also just as bad. Andrew’s (Drew?) a bully and Derek doesn’t like his bullying ways but doesn’t say anything? Especially when he’s the one bullying the girl you like?! Apparently he trips her and calls her name and you sit there and watch. Disgusting piece of shit, this protagonist is.

Then there’s Max and his Sister Jeanette (Annette, again nicknames for every fucking character). Max didn’t seem like a bad character but his sister was fucking irritating. She was a worthless character to even put in the book. She was never happy and she followed her brother and I guess Amelia and Brook because he followed them but she didn’t like them? Her whole personality just sucked.

None of these characters had some bond between them. There was just no connection between the reader and them and them with each other. Best friends or twins they were an odd bunch. None of them seemed happy. There weren’t any joking or having fun with each other.

I’m surprised that some readers gave this story over a 3. I found a lot of mistakes as I read on and by the end, I think even the author was done with this silly ass book.

I was given an advanced readers copy of this book and have decided to leave a voluntary honest review. This is my first book by this author, I have to say I enjoyed it. I thought there would be more Intimate scenes but it was still good. I do however have bone to pick with Amelia, I like her I do, but what I didn't like was how passive she was. King of school or not, you never let someone who isn't significant other or liver etc tell who you can talk to. I loved Derek but that wouldn't fly with me. And I would I stuck it to him by even being more hands on with Max lol. I have a feeling there something going on between Max and Brook. And Andrew and Jeanette. Just saying lol.

I really liked Lia, Derek, Max, Anette, Brook and Andrew and I'll read just about any sports romance that involves hockey.
Save this one for when you are in the mood for a more tame, sweet romance.

✨✨✨✨✨It was a long time since I enjoyed and high school based kind of book, and this series is the perfect way to catch up with it. I can't resist male characters who aren't afraid to go after what they want , and Derek is all that and more.. He is so confident but also so caring and sensible ,sometimes a little cave-man but after waiting so long we can accept that. Lia is the classic next door girl , who keeps on her own, and thinks no-one noticed her. But Derek alway noticed her, and now it's his occasional to prove they're perfect for each other...✨✨✨
I GAVE IT 4.75 STARS ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️( I highly recommend it ;))

Anna simply never disappoints! Another great story!
I loved this book. It was a lovely romance. At first, I didn't like the book at all, but this quickly turned around. I thought that would be a love triangle but it wasn’t. It’s story about love and friendships. We meet two people who have secretly been in love with each other for years. Derek is popular guy in high school and he is secretly in love with Amelia. She is an ordinary girl and shy. It’s time to reveal their emotions. All characters help to bring their together. The characters were mostly likeable except Andrew. I didn’t like him because he was too mean to others.
This was a fast and easy to read young adult romance. The story was cute and sweet. I really enjoyed it. Recommended it!

This is a short book which I enjoyed but also didn’t ...

Not gonna go too into detail but essentially it’s about Amelia and Derek. His friends used to bully her and he never told them to stop and then Max comes in and his alpha is out and he goes for her.

In a nutshell, Amelia was far too weak of a heroine. Derek decides he’s gonna go for her and she never made him work for it. It didn’t make sense.

If this wasn’t a bully romance, and it was like he always loved her but didn’t go for her and started when another man showed interest, sure. But his friends apparently bullied her (not badly but still bullying) and then suddenly her friends and her are okay with it all and they’re all hanging out like the past didn’t happen?

I hated how she let him have it all without even properly apologising and making him work for it.

He also went through it by smirking and feeling cocky and never actually was serious about it, it was annoying and disrespectful.

Wasn’t great. The last book I read by the author had a far stronger heroine. May read the next ones as the heroines seem stronger.

She was way too weak and let him kiss and touch her without even protesting and not caring. She literally couldn’t say no to him once.

The inconsistency and blatant disregard to the history of bullying was bad but Derek was a sweet hero which is why I don’t get how he let his friends bully her.

Eh not great at all.

For my safety girls, he was with OW and he was her first kiss. Also over this trope. But this book isn’t sexual - no sex scenes

🎧🎧AUDIO REVIEW🎧🎧

PERFORMANCE: 3 STARS

Cindy Kay narrating *other* female voices was not my favorite part. She honestly only sounded feminine when she narrated Amelia, every other female voice was just too close to male for me. It’s a ridiculously point to nitpick at, but it made me twitchy every time it happened, so here we are LOL Nelson Hobbs did an okay job with his narration but again, I wasn’t really wow’d by either one *shrug*

STORY: 3 STARS

Full Disclosure: I very rarely read this age group. VERY. lol But when I do, I prepare myself for the ridiculousness that is this age group. You see, teenagers are … not smart. They make not smart choices, and they act below their age almost 100% of the time. Those are the facts. If someone tried to write a story with teenagers and not make them this way, I’d get twitchy. Taking all of this into consideration, in order for me to come out of a story written about teenagers without a twitchy eye, there has to be some seriously emotional plot points and/or angst. I’m talking, rip-my-heart-out-make-me-cry-like-a-newborn, or I’m going to lose interest quick. I didn’t lose interest, but …

I had a hard time connecting with this story. It was written well, and every circumstance was very real and relatable to this age group, but I just didn’t feel it. My gut tells me that when I read/listen to the next two stories I might just feel it all, or it might just all come together for me, but it just didn’t with this one standing on its own. Maybe it was the lack of deep angst. To be honest, I just do not know. That thing that grabs my heart was just missing *shrug* I didn’t dislike the story because it was missing, but I’m also not doing cartwheel over it. I’m a little blah, and very middle of the road about it.

However, I really want to read the rest of this world, so that’s something. I’m drawn to these kids, and I want to know all of their stories. I ran across the synopsis for the boxset of the three stories and it goes like this …
Three couples.
Three stories.
One year to change it all...
Mean girls and new friendships.
Hockey and rivalry.
Secrets and lies.
First love and shattered hearts.
Welcome to Greyford High.

THAT tells me it will all come together for me and be a much better experience! We shall see!

Great!

This was such a good YA read. I was thinking from this description that this was going to involve a love triangle type thing but surprisingly that wasn't the case. I can't wait To read more about the secondary characters in this book. Especially Max! Can't wait to see what comes next in this series!

If I were in high school this would be going on I'm sure. I didn't like Derek for a long time. I think he was pretty aggressive. He trapped Lia a few times and kissed her. Awkward. Then he softens up.
Andrew is not so fleshed out but in team with Derek and for years teased (bullied) Amelia. At the end we understand Andrew a bit better (if that helps).

So it's YA. And pretty good.

Disclaimer: I received an Advance Reader Copy at no cost from the publisher/author. All opinions in my review are my own.

The first book in the Greyford High series really surprised me. It took me several chapters to get into the story but once I did I was a goner.

These characters are ones that really grew on me. I honestly didn't care for Derek at all in the beginning. He felt too controlling and aggressive when it came to Lia. He really grew on me though. By the end of the story, I adored him. He really came out of his shell and showed Lia that she was important to him. I liked Lia's character a lot. The only thing that irked me a bit about her was the way she didn't stand up for herself. I can understand that is part of her character though. She is the type of person that likes to stay in the background so at least it was consistent with her characters even if I didn't like it much. I absolutely loved Max's character from the very start. I can't wait to read his book. Jeanette, Andrew, and Brook are all rather mysterious characters. You can tell that there is so much more under the surface when it comes to them and I am so excited to read their stories and dive into their lives.

I enjoyed the plot and direction of the story for the most part. The storytelling took me a bit to get used to but I enjoyed it once I got into the story. The story felt a little disjointed in the beginning. I wasn't sure exactly the relationship between Derek and Lia at first. The beginning with both Max and Derek felt abrupt. Like there wasn't any easing into the story but instead, it was just thrown at you. Other than the very start, I liked the storytelling.

If I'm being honest, I hoped for a little more conflict in the story when it came to Max's interest in Lia. I think that it was downplayed a bit too much. I also would have liked to see Max and Lia's friendship blossom a bit more. I liked the multi-POV in the story. We even get to see Max's POV a couple of times. I think that if the Max/Amelia angle had been explored more then having more of Max's POV in the narrative along with Derek and Lia would have been amazing.

The romance in the story was also something the grew on me. Derek really did surprise me when it came to Lia. I usually like a bit more banter and angst in these types of romances but that didn't really align with Lia's character. Derek really did prove himself and his feelings for Lia. I loved the way that he courted her and tried to show her that he had changed. I felt that the bullying aspect was a little glossed over but overall I was pleased with the way that the romance turned out between Derek and Lia.

Overall, this was an entertaining and engrossing story that I completely fell into. I did have some issues with some parts of the story but as a whole, I was very pleased with it. I took such a liking to the characters and I am so excited to read the rest of the series and get to know the other characters.

This was a cute new adult, enemies to lovers romance.
Amelia is a shy girl that is picked on at school. It's bc of her nemesis Derek King - the guy that caused her heartache 10 years ago when they were in elementary school.
It's senior year and there's a new guy in town, Max. He's showing Amelia attention that no guy has ever shown and Derek doesn't like it.
This is a cute start to the GHS series.
Be warned, if you are looking for hot and steamy, this isn't the book for you.

“Puoi odiarmi quanto vuoi, piccoletta.

recensione a cura del blog "Libri magnetici" by Meghan

Quattro stelle e mezzo.

I was offered and given an ARC by Anna B. Doe, however I was already 50% into the book before I recieved the arc or knew I was getting one. So, although I have an arc of Lines on my kindle - this review has nothing to do with the arc but everything to do with my honest thoughts and opinions.

Firstly I would like to mention how genuinely happy I was to go back to the genre I started reading. I am an active New Adult/Adult/Contemporary etc romance reader, and this book was so refreshing to read and have a break from all the serious, gritty and intense books I am so used to reading.

Secondly, Anna B. Doe is a 'new to me' author and Lines is the very first book of hers that I have read and after finishing it, I can happily say that it will definitely NOT be the last. I am looking forward to book 2, Habits, to be releasedMarch 27th.

Thirdly, I would like to mention a few things I genuinely loved about this book. I loved that it was such an easy, sweet and enjoyable read. This book truly showed the innocence and vulnerability of young characters. I really loved that not only did this author hook you into the stories of the main characters, but she also made you hungry for more of the side characters stories, leaving you wanting more.

Lastly, I do have a couple things that I wouldn't say I hated but could have been happy without or happy having been added. I do want to quickly mention that although I wasn't a big fan of either of these, they're so easy to move on from. One was that a certain character that does wrong, has no repercussions for what she did, I wish there would have been some retribution towards her, but that could just be my 'adult-romance-story-reading-mind' coming into play there lol. Two, there were parts in the book that I felt were repeated a few times, that I felt didn't need to be.

Overall, out of so many YA romances I have read in the past, this was probably the most captivating one to date. I genuinely could not put this down, I finished it so quickly, and now I want more of the Greyford High students. I would definitely reccomend to anyone looking for a cute teenage romance book, this is for you.

Lines by Anna B. Doe is a bully to lovers, high school sports romance, which is the first book in the Greyford Wolves series.

Whilst it’s noted that this is a bad boy/good girl romance, I definitely think that bully is more applicable for this story, as Derek isn’t really a typical “bad boy” character and the undertones of bullying is mentioned by Amelia and others.

The story does deep dive into the reasons behind Derek’s actions, but he was still part of the poor treatment towards Amelia as they grew up and even to current day in the book.

The story does have the teenage ups and downs that high school life throws their way, along with those who wish for Derek and Amelia’s relationship to fail.

Overall it was a sweet YA/NA romance towards the end, with character growth and key characters who will become part of the series.

The story is told from both Amelia and Derek’s POVs with some from Max as well.

Sidenote: because I saw this mentioned as I was getting ready to finalise my review, I think I should mention that the previous errors noted in some reviews wasn’t in the copy I read. I’m assuming that the book has since been re-edited and those errors have been removed.
