My 22nd year of Alaska Summer Band classes 2024 will be from July 23-August 15 every Tuesday and Thursday with a concert at the Alaska Zoo on evening of August 15. Classes will be held at St. John United Methodist Church (previously held at the Music Man).

Classes offered below. $50 dollar discount for one student taking two classes, or $100 discount for one student taking all three classes is included in the tuition prices below. Summer Band students should consider also taking the Jazz/Rock improvisation class to prepare for jazz band in school. Also, students playing a non-traditional jazz instrument should consider taking the beginning band class to learn a jazz instrument (clarinet learn to play saxophone, horn or baritone player learn trombone...).

Classes Every Tuesday and Thursday held  July 23-August 15 (Aug 15 is at the Zoo).

5-6pm: Beginning Band: (subject to enough students) This is for incoming 5th or 6th graders looking to get a head start to be a great player in beginning band for the upcoming school year.

6-7:15pm Summer Band for usually for incoming 7th graders and beyond who want to play fun movie and rock music and improve as a player. One year of band instruction prerequisite.

7:15-8:15pm Jazz/Rock Improvisation. You learn how to master the fundamentals in Summer Band and this class builds on that by learning to improvise using various jazz and rock grooves. Perfect for those who want to play and excel in jazz band.
