Meet Shalenie Madho, a force for change in the Caribbean! 🇯🇲 Raised in Trinidad and inspired by her father's environmentalism, Shalenie’s journey in climate advocacy is a testament to her passion and dedication. As a Climate Finance Access Network (CFAN) advisor, she is unlocking climate finance in Jamaica, driving sustainable agriculture, enhancing resilient infrastructure, and fostering community empowerment. From her experience with the Women in Renewable Energy (WIRE) network to her pivotal work with the Jamaica Social Investment Fund, Shalenie’s impact is profound and far-reaching. Her vision is bold: to ensure that Small Island Developing States (SIDS) like Jamaica have the resources and collaboration needed to tackle climate change head-on. Shalenie’s story is a beacon of hope, showing that with passion, mentorship, and leadership, we can create a sustainable future for all: https://bit.ly/3V5te3e “Everyone can make a change and make a difference in Jamaica by leading; it’s not just the Government’s responsibility to address climate vulnerability, impacts, and mitigation, but also the people.” - Shalenie Madho 👏

Imagine a future where our largest power grids run entirely on renewable energy without massive storage needs. RenewEconomy's Giles Parkinson shares insights from energy expert and RMI co-founder Amory Lovins, who believes that through energy efficiency and smart grid management, we can achieve 100% renewable electricity without costly bulk storage solutions. Lovins’ own energy-efficient home in the Rocky Mountains exemplifies how sustainable living is both possible and cost-effective. His approach, focusing on optimizing energy use and incorporating innovative storage methods like ice-storage air conditioning and smart electric car charging, offers a revolutionary vision for our power grids. 📌 Learn more: https://bit.ly/3wHuekJ

New energy projects are being developed across the United States faster than ever before. Unfortunately, the country doesn’t have enough electric transmission lines to connect those projects to the grid. A recent rule from the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) could change that by requiring regional grids to forecast and plan for transmission needs 20 years into the future. The rule also encourages the upgrade of existing infrastructure to increase capacity without needing to build new lines from scratch. Policy like this is important to help meet the nation’s growing energy needs, and the new rule had broad bipartisan support, according to RMI’s Chaz Teplin. 📰 via Grist: https://bit.ly/3K2DWkT #energy #decarbonization #electricity #transmission
America's grid isn't ready for a renewable future. A new federal rule could change that.
