EMPOWERING MOTHERS, REBUILDING FAMILIEs, Breaking the Cycle

WhO WE ARE

WE KNOW HOME IS THE STARTING PLACE OF LOVE, EMPOWERMENT, AND TOTAL FAMILY RECOVERY.

When a woman becomes a mother, a deep desire to change her life and provide a healthier environment for her child(ren) is often also born. Still, untreated trauma and barriers are too significant to overcome alone.

Perspectives is an award-winning human service program that addresses society’s most pressing issues: equity, diversity, inclusion, homelessness, poverty, addiction, mental illness, food security, and lack of access to life-changing opportunities for disenfranchised women and children.

After a lifetime of being exposed to these traumatic experiences, a mother’s chances of replicating that same cycle of trauma with her child(ren) are incredibly high. We have shown from our decades of work that we can disrupt that cycle through intervention and by removing barriers. Through a holistic approach that includes trauma-informed care, therapeutic services, supportive housing, and best-practice programming; mothers are empowered and able to begin again.

Our mothers share that they and their children, “...just never had a chance”. The truth is, they didn’t until they arrived at Perspectives.

What we do

• Return our mothers and their children emerging from homelessness and addiction back to the economic and social mainstream.

• Increase access to trauma-informed substance and mental health services for our mothers and children through the implementation of on-site services.

• Programming to ensure that pregnant residents have all the necessary resources to ensure a healthy baby.

• Remove barriers for underserved children and youth by providing academic, nutritional, and mental health programming using a trauma-informed social and emotional-based curriculum.

• Provide the needed services to reunite a mother and child.

• Provide Early Childhood Development Programming for our children who have experienced trauma and poverty.
