Aviva Zacks of Safety Detective sat down with Hitesh Sheth, President and CEO of Vectra AI, and found out how his company uses AI to detect cyberthreats.

Safety Detective: What drew you to cybersecurity?

Hitesh Sheth: My deep interest in cybersecurity fully came to bear when I was given the role to run the security business at Juniper. And it became a passion with the start of Vectra, first and foremost because there was an incredible opportunity to build groundbreaking AI software to solve advanced threat detection and response.

SD: How does Vectra use AI to detect cyberthreats?

HS: We marry AI and security research to extract signals from the network in real-time to create a prioritized narrative around attacks in progress and then enable the ability to act to mitigate.

SD: What types of industries use Vectra’s technology and why?

HS: The need to detect and respond to advanced cyberattacks applies horizontally across all industries.  No single vertical is immune and therefore our customers have spanned broadly across all enterprise verticals.

SD: What is the worst cyberthreat today?

HS: The worst threat is the nation-state actor who will leverage the remote worker at home to break into critical assets.

SD: How will cybersecurity develop over the next few years?

HS: AI will firmly become the indispensable ally of the team in the Security Operations Center.  That is the only way we can make productivity gains to level the playing field in the current asymmetric war against advanced cyberattacks.
