'Got more beer!': 93-year-old Pennsylvania woman receives coronavirus quarantine gift from Molson Coors

A Pennsylvania woman gained national attention by asking for more beer while practicing social distancing amid the coronavirus crisis.

On Monday, she got her wish – and then some.

The woman, identified as 93-year-old Olive Veronesi by local television station KDKA-TV, was shown in a picture holding up a dry erase board inside her home with the message "I need more beer!" written on it. She was holding a Coors Light.

Molson Coors obliged. KDKA reported the beverage company delivered 150 Coors Light beers to Veronesi's home on Monday, and Molson Coors confirmed the gift in a statement to USA TODAY.

"When we saw Olive’s message, we knew we had to jump at the chance to not only connect with someone who brought a smile to our faces during this pandemic, but also gave us a special opportunity to say thanks for being a Coors Light fan," a Molson Coors spokesman said in an email.

He fought for two weeks and won:A 101-year-old British man was infected with coronavirus.

After receiving the gift, Veronesi changed her sign. It now reads, "Got more beer!" with a heart drawn on it. KDKA's Facebook post showing Veronesi's original plea for more beer was shared more than 50,000 times. More than 3,000 people commented on the post, with many of the top comments coming from people hoping to help Veronesi.

The TV station reported the photo of Veronesi was taken by a relative.

"Even in the pre-COVID era, we would’ve been thrilled to fulfill Olive’s request," Molson Coors' statement reads. "But in this moment, during these unusual times, bringing a little bit of joy to someone’s day is the least we can do."

The spokesperson said Veronesi and her family "have a standing offer for more Coors Light whenever they’re ready for a restock."
