UNCW grad celebrates her birthday same day as graduating
WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - Khatijah Amir Hakim celebrated her birthday by walking down the aisle to accept her diploma from the School of Arts and Sciences at University of North Carolina Wilmington Saturday.
With her degree in chemistry, Hakim accepted a job with Covance, a pharmaceutical corporation where she will be working in Madison, Wis.
“I always joked with my friends that I wanted to rule the world someday, and so to do so, I better understand the basics of the world down to the atoms,” Hakim said.
Hakim advises students going into college to be prepared for the big changes that are about to happen, because she said it’s nothing that you will ever expect.
There were about 600 students who graduated with her from the School of Arts and Sciences.
