Plenty of technology and life science events and deadlines are on tap for May, and we suggest you pencil them into your calendar soon.

This annual event offers actionable insight into the business of energy, technical innovation, diverse resources and industry opportunities to help drive North Carolina’s energy economy forward with national impact.

Application Deadline: Collider 2019 Climate Tech Challenge

May 1

The Collider’s Climate Tech Challenge seeks the most innovative climate change solutions from students, researchers and experienced professionals around the world. The winner gets $5,000, entry into The Collider’s Climate Tech Incubator and a 12-month membership.

1 Million Cups CLT

May 1, 8:30-10 a.m.

Held every month, 1 Million Cups Charlotte features a presentation from a local startup followed by a Q&A from the community. Free coffee is included.

Triangle Tech Speaker Series

May 1, 4:30-6 p.m. @Fidelity Investments

Fidelity Investments is hosting a panel of experts discussing topics surrounding cryptocurrency, digital assets and blockchain. The panelists include Fidelity Digital Asset Services Head of Technology Jillian Munro, Fidelity Investments Blockchain Architect Bob McElrath and Dr. Alessandra Scafuro of NC State’s Computer Science Department. Tony Parham, VP of innovation and strategy at Fidelity Center for Applied Technology, will moderate the panel.

Small Business Month Kickoff w/ Charlotte Business Resources

Crowdfunding & Other Alternative Sources of Capital

This workshop covers alternative financing sources and opportunities available for small businesses. Train the Trainer Workshop on Winning SBIR/STTR Grants

Hosted by First Flight Venture Center, this full-day training event will demonstrate how early-stage companies can obtain funding from the SBIR/STTR grant programs, covering strategy, preparing competitive proposals, internal procedures, and more.

5th Annual Small Business Resource & Client Appreciation Day
