UNCW women’s basketball riding high headed into CAA tourney


WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY)–The magical season continued for UNCW women’s basketball last Friday night , the Seahawks might the College of Charleston to end the regular season 18-11.

UNCW’s 11 wins in the conference are the most for the program since the 2011-2012 season, but what is even more impressive is their 13-1 record at home. Their success in the regular season earned them the No.3 seed in this upcoming weekends CAA tournament in Newark, Delaware.

The Seahawks will match up with the No.6 seed Northeastern Huskies in the quarterfinal round. The two team split in the regular season with UNCW winning inside Trask Coliseum, and Northeastern taking care of business in Boston. The rubber match between the two schools will have much bigger implications, it is win or go home at this point in the year.

UNCW will be on the same side of the bracket as the No. 2 seed Drexel Dragons. William & Mary and Charleston will play in the 7 & 10 game on Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 p.m. James Madison ran away with the No.1 seed after going 17-1 in the conference and 25-4 overall.

UNCW and Northeastern will tip-off at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday night in the quarterfinals from the University of Delaware.
